          Course and Program Textbooks

Managed care, private and government-led initiatives to control health care costs have decreased physician compensation although still prodigious income earners. And so, they must now carefully plan their practices and seek financial security in a manner that is markedly different from other professionals.

To do so, physicians and their advisors must be well informed about the growing range of financial planning and medical management options to choose the course that balances risk, cost, time horizon, outcome and their own personal economic style. These innovative textbooks confront the reality that personal financial planning and medical practice management for doctors and other medical professionals is decidedly more complex than it is in other professions.

For the Certified Medial Planner™ program, they are divided into core, dictionary and institutional textbook products. Regardless, they are all produced in-house and should be in the library every financial planer, accountant, attorney, banker, management consultant or insurance agent that purports to advise medical professionals. Books may be purchased from your vendor of choice, or directly from us, while supplies last. All are proprietary and have been produced by iMBA Inc for this course.

Three Required Core Textbooks:

1. Financial Planning for Physicians and Advisors describes a personal financial planning program to help doctors avoid the perils of harsh economic sacrifice. It outlines how to select a knowledgeable financial advisor and develop a comprehensive personal financial plan, and includes important sections on: insurance, asset diversification, wealth management and modern portfolio construction, income tax and retirement planning, and practice succession and estate planning. When fully implemented with a professional’s assistance, this book will help Certified Medical Planners™ develop an effective long-term financial and medical managerial plan for their physician clients in a consultative manner.

"I highly recommend this book and commend Dr. Marcinko & the Institute of Medical Business Advisors, Inc. on a job well done."
Manuel J. Colón, MD
American College of Emergency Room Physicians

"Simply put, my recommendation is to read the: "Financial Planning Handbook for Physicians and Advisors", and "reap".

2. In The Business of Medical Practice, an interdisciplinary team of Certified Medical Planners™ and other experts teach adults learners how to open, staff, and equip an insurance-friendly office for patients, and how to raise the capital necessary for it. New coverage in the second edition includes: how to write a medical office business plan; compliance methods; economic risk management programs; insurance CPT coding and Six-sigma initiatives and futuristic information technology to track clinical outcomes. Material on treatment results, medical care outcomes and physician recruitment is also included.

"I could have used this book in the past, and I will certainly refer to it frequently now."
Carol EH Scott-Conner; MD, PhD, MBA
American College of Physician Executives

"Any doctor and advisor building a profitable medical practice must read this book and return to it for reference."

3. Insurance and Risk Management for Physicians and Advisors is a primer for those of all levels and interests yielding important personal and professional advice. It provides more than a fundamental understanding of the current healthcare environment and is equally important to the established physician executive, as it is for the resident doctor or advisor, looking for a reference on topics like capitation, malpractice insurance alternatives, risk theory or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), EMTALA, FERPA, SARBOX and the PA, among many others new laws, rules and regulations.

"After reading this book, physician executives will be in a better position to address insurance, risk management, and financial decisions for themselves, their families, their practices or the organizations they lead."
David C. Stockwell, MD
American College of Physician Executives

"While the physician executive will still require a financial or insurance advisor after reading this book, this well written text assists in providing the necessary background on what type of assistance is needed."
Anthony D. Slonim, MD, MPH
American College of Physician Executives

Three Required Dictionaries:

Healthcare is the largest domestic industry. But, some suggest the changes of managed care are malignant; as many industry segments, professionals and patients suffer because of it. This tumult is so great that physicians and advisors can no longer assume definitional stability. The resulting chaos is legion. And so, since knowledge is power in times of great flux, codified information protects us all from physical, economic and emotional harm! And so, each useful and up-to-date quick reference in the 3 volume comprehensive Health Dictionary Series™ lists and defines more than ten thousand+plus words, abbreviations, acronyms, slang-terms, initialisms and specialized non-clinical health terms; listed alphabetically.

Comprehensive Health Dictionary Series

1. Dictionary of Health Insurance and Managed Care
2. Dictionary of Health Economics and Finance
3. Dictionary of Health Information Technology and Security
